Actually, as the act of
excerpting this & sending it in MIME/richtext should demonstrate, this will
work fine for a native richtext composer, because the leading "<" will be
replaced by "<lt>". (The previous sentence undoubtedly constitutes the new
high-water mark in richtext sentences that are harder to understand when
viewed in their raw form!)
