Well, statistics have been presented showing that that's the case for one
pretty broad but mostly technical selection of mailing lists.  What
statistics do you have to support the alternative position?  You may well
be correct, but I'd really like to see this argued from the vantage point
of firm evidence.

me too.  if I figure out a way to get firm evidence I'll let you know.

you don't have firm evidence either, because you don't have anything 
close to a random sample.  statistics that aren't representive of what
you are trying to measure are meaningless.
