The original (and still valid) reason for these was to catch people who
tried to subscribe using misconfigured MUAs.  Many are the times these
have kept 'YOURUSER(_at_)YOUR-SITE-GOES-HERE(_dot_)COM' off my lists. ;)

/Valdis (who sees at least 4-5 mails from 'YOURPID(_at_)vt(_dot_)edu' a week ;)
