Even if you could do something clever here, would it make much if any
operational difference? I got the impression from Mark Delany at Y!
that mailing list traffic is a drop in a very large ocean. I'm
guessing that bulk mail is probably higher but still pretty much
noise level to large providers.
I was more thinking about ESP style mail, Valuable Offers to Our
Beloved Customers and the like, either from explicit signup or opt-in
when you buy something. That seems interesting to me since it is
relatively easy to detect bulk mail if you can look at enough of it
(look at DCC, for a notable example) but it is painful to tell the
solicited bulk mail from the spam.
