% I'd like to see us accept HTML as an alternate format for I-Ds,
% and perhaps eventually RFCs. One problem is that HTML is not
% in reality as portable as we would like.

        re HTML/PDF: cut&paste?
                       text search?
ease of conversion to other formats?

or... why even bother with these incremental technologies?

XML has also been offered up. I'm not persuaded that any
of these three are superiour to ASCII. And there is nothing
preventing one from taking the authoritative archive and
doing the conversion to foramt'o'the day. A number of folks
have done so. But the authoritative base is still and should
        remain (for now) ASCII.
