Well we can use tools like Helix that combine Multicast, Real and Windows 
Media, I believe, into a single platform, so any kind of client can access it.

Actually, the use of Windows Media Player is quite rare for the events I
am talking about, Real is probably used in 90% of them, I only mentioned
the other one because it does appear from time to time. Note that Real
Player is available for multiple platforms for free, and so is Windows
Media Player, I have one for the Mac for example.

Most other Internet events I attend, or follow remotely, use Real
audio/video, or sometimes Windows Media Player.

do this for the IETF meetings?


Does Windows Media Player run on a high-enough percentage of IETFers
machines?  The incidence of Windows here is considerably lower than in
the population as a whole.  Note that this is a technical reason:  it
doesn't support our user base.
