Don't be so sure of that. Even just basic reading and replying is
better in nmh than anything else I've found. In particular, replcomps
is a wonderful thing. As for draft_from, I always have it turned on.
It suits my needs perfectly. I have no need to turn it off, so removing
the ability to do so wouldn't affect me personally. But nmh has a wide
variety of users, and if we can continue to cater to those that do need
to turn it off, I believe we should strive to do so (or if not, at least
provide a way to achieve the same behaviour using other methods).
(nb: this is not to denigrate IMAP. For people whose needs it serves,
it is just fine, it is just that those needs, and MH's requirements,
aren't compatible.)
I tend to agree somewhat. I have no problem with people wanting to add
an IMAP backend to nmh. I guess I can see some situations in which it
might be useful. But personally, it's not something I can see myself
using. I want all of my data sat on my own machines where I have control
of it, not on a remote server somewhere, and that includes email. So
even were I to use IMAP, I'd be doing so as a POP replacement. I can
vaguely see that I could use an IMAP server on one of my own servers,
but I'm not seeing any advantages over just having my mail in my home
directory as I currently do. I appreciate that others have different
requirements to me, though.
