You and I seem to have different definitions of "ubiquity"... ;)
Well, sure. That's why I said, "To me the value ...". Emphasis on
the "to me" part.
Here's my core point: if you want to do this, please, feel free! Write
that code! But everyone has their own idea of what has value for nmh;
since we're doing this on our spare time, there aren't too many free
cycles to write code that would take a long time to write but isn't
personally useful (that's why I run screaming everytime someone suggests
a FUSE interface. And everytime someone suggests a FUSE IMAP interface,
somewhere a kitten dies).
Seriously, becoming an "official" nmh developer is easy: sign up on
savannah, submit a request, and I or someone else will approve it. Then
start hacking! Create a branch; go wild!
I have, and despise, an iPad. (Where the heck is shift-click anyway?
Sigh, "press and hold".
At work, I have a bunch of Linux computers and a Windows 7 box. Since I
work for a defense contractor, I can't carry any personal electronics at
work, so I can only access my files/lists/calendar from either the
Winders box or one of the Linux boxes.
I can only say that at least for iCloud, there's a web interface which
should work from anything. I pretty much assume that anything nowadays is
going to have some kind of web interface available (also, you're not
the only one who works for a defense contractor, but they don't all
have such a restrictive BYOD policy).
Again, I will stress that iCloud is useful "for me". I cannot claim that
it's useful for anyone else. I'm interested in nmh pushing stuff to
iCloud, and I see how to make that happen. Other people should write
code to do what _they_ want. We should also make it easy for people to
get data out of nmh to push it to whereever; I think we're all on the
same page there.
