Bill,
X.500 includes various provisions for registering
multi-national corporations. I'll leave it as an exercise to the
interested parties to read X.500 and the work of profiling groups
to see how that is done. (Hint: alias entries are used.)
And yes, there are X.500 directories with rfc-822 attributes
in entries. I think you'll find that many (most?) of the users
registered in the QUIPU X.500 directories have their DNS mailbox
names in their entries.
