The Subject: line of the message as it came to me was one long line. I'd
guess whatever you think is being done by "someone eles's mailer" is
more likely being done by yours and you're the only one seeing it. That
is you and others using the same or similar software.
Of course when I thought about I realised I was barking up the wrong tree.
formail can, and does, concatenate the several lines of a subject line
together into one. As you say the wrapping/filing is attributable to pine
in my case.
Exactly. The actual formatting of message headers and the way they are
represented by the MUA may differ. Recommended reading: the parts of
RFC822 that cover header folding.
Now if only I can get that sed pattern to work ...
For removing consecutive whitespace? The updated sed pattern I posted
should pretty much work.
