Personally, I would like to hit "Reply" and have the message go to the group, rather than to the individual who wrote the last message. Yes, I realize I have "Reply to All," which replies to both the group and the last writer, but that should not be necessary. No other group I belong to behaves this way.

I don't remember why or where but I've seen a website somewhere which explains why it's bad to have replies go to the list.

Seen some very ugly mailloops when braindead autoresponders responded on their own out of the office messages.

For those who think they are treated badly by more experienced users, please read the following:

Yes, one should STFW and RTFM, and yes, I have been in considerably more than one situation in which I wanted to tell someone the answer was right under their nose if they chose to look for it, but in case no one has noticed, most FMs and much of the FW are not written in such a fashion that someone unaccustomed to the terminology and syntaxes (i.e., a newbie) can easily pick it up.

I seriously doubt that those so obviously irritated by questions they've already seen and possibly have already answered would be responding in the same fashion if the exchange was happening face-to-face. I also doubt that these same people appreciated this kind of treatment when they were new to Procmail.

Is this list here to help people or for the elite and experienced to show off to one another? Maybe there should be more than one level of Procmail list: one for those willing to help and one for those not.

Matt
