It appears that this [base-64 encoding] is done specifically to
frustrate the pre-processor rule I have in my procmail ruleset to
de-mime any Content-Type: text/* with base64 encoding.
I am thinking of writing a script to throw out the multipart/mixed
from all messasges where there is only one part, but I suspect someone
must already have done that. Can anyone give me a pointer?
The list archives are often a good bet, and here is no exception.
Three-or-so months ago, Paul Chvostek <paul(_at_)it(_dot_)ca>, a regular on
this list, posted his recipe. I use a personalized version of it
(and give him credit by name in my rc). My altered version goes
something like this (I've simplified a couple of things here for
further distro):
:0 # 021109 () base-64-encoded html head is shrouding more than charset
* Content-Type:(.*\<)?text/(html|plain)
* ^Content-Transfer-Encoding:(.*\<)?base64
