Re: "$" modifier on "?" conditions

Hi David,

No, I did NOT write that, Allestorfer. You wrote it. I quoted it from
you and I added this,

By the way, you don't need the "$" modifier on "?" conditions unless you
want to simulate an eval and have two evaluation passes on the line.

but when you quoted both back from me, you edited your own name out of
where I had credited the first part to you to try to make it look as if
your words were mine. That is dishonest.

that was simply the way I used to use for quoting a cut of a
discussion thread - the text after *one* ">" character is from the
person whose From: field is refered to automatically by my mail client
- you in this case ("On Mon, 08 Mar 2004, 07:49 GMT-06 David W. Tamkin

beginning has only been the following:

'By the way, you don't need the "$" modifier on "?" conditions unless you
want to simulate an eval and have two evaluation passes on the line.'

That, and only that, is your quote, of course! Never wanted to be
dishonest, why should I even do so?

The quoted text which has *two* characters in front of each line is
originating from one level higher of the discussion thread, which was
me:

'* $ ! ?"$TEST -d $VIRUSDIR/EXE"

did it:

procmail: Executing
"/usr/bin/test,-d,/home/roal/mail/TRASH/viruses/EXE"'

Please note the difference of quoting symbols for both mine and your
text. I am sorry if you feel I have quoted my cite as yours. I will
try to avoid such confusion in the future in this list.

And, there is no reason to call me "Allestorfer". I never thought you
could be angry because of thet post - I'm glad you helped clearing the
problem we have discussed and have already credited you for this in my
current history file. So please come on, there is no problem here.

best regards,
rob.
