I do know that there are many ways to do simple things. I beleive that
you are trying to do something more difficult than necessary... and
wanting someone else (in this case other email systems) to put their
systems at risk for your personal reasons.
Please, if you don't wish others to make assumptions about your situation,
don't make them about others' situations. There are many good reasons why
people may wish to avoid using their ISPs' mail servers; it may sometimes
be "more difficult than necessary", but I can assure you that that is not
always the case.
And to try to stick with doing things in the manner in which the original
designers of SMTP envisaged them, as you appeared to be suggesting we should
in one of your previous mails, is surely foolish -- if you recall, it was
normal to have no relay restrictions, and in general to trust everybody else
"out there" until you had good reason not to.
Things have changed.
Oh, the point? The point is that it is a damn good thing that we are going
to have a system which will remove or at least reduce the need for people
to use dialup, cable, and other similarly dubious blacklists (to me
blacklisting someone essentially because they can't afford a fixed net
connection is dubious and, while I can understand why people do it, certainly
not to be encouraged).
Cheers,
Nick
