I have seen this argument come by quite a few times now, but am
wondering: when did spf/cid start to come into being? I mean, if spf

The SPF spec was "frozen" in mid Dec 2003, the C-ID spec was announced
in late Feb 2004. From my research, SPF had more records published in
the first three weeks than C-ID has had published in the first three
months.
