So we've sold out to AOL now, have we?

Part of publicity is having a good contact and hook for reporters
writing stories related to what you are publicizing. If AOL is
happy with being that hook, great.

It doesn't lessen the role the rest of the world plays, though it can
be quite annoying for the people who don't get mass media credit for
their major contributions.

I don't see it that way. They are illegally stealing the ownership of the
technology.

What will happen the day AOL decides it no longer wishes to continue
"developing" SPF and will switch to DKIM and this is announced to the media
in this way?

"Ownership"?!?!?!

I call bullshit.

Nobody "owns" SPF, that is the whole point of it.

As a community, we have developed SPF. Meng started the ball rolling,
which is great, but his current participation is minimal.

I suspect he's just as happy right now not to have every reporter
on the tech beat calling him about it, or we would be hearing this
from him instead of you.

OTOH, if I hear such a complaint from Meng, I would give it fair weight
in my own opinion.
