Got it, thank you for that explaination :)

Writing a converter to include a TYPE99 record seems an awful lot of
waste, given the simplicity of patching BIND9 to understand the newly
assigned SPF RR:

Arjen

PS The attached files will make the necessary modifications to BIND
9.3.1. The 'spf_99.[ch]' files go into the 'lib/dns/rdata/generic/'
directory and the 'bind-spf.diff' patches 'bin/tests/rdata_test.c'.

I'll go for that solution if Arjen would like to expalin in detail how
to apply the files. I have never "patched" anything before.

I got burned doing this earlier with sendmail and patches for spf
support - which were NOT in the upstream RPM tree, so, 1) easy to loose
any changes to binaries if you dont keep track or these patches are not
in the official upstream release, 2) easy to "mix" things up as i had
with the sendmail binary and hadnt realized a bad MTA for many many
months, and it took James Couzens poking at me to get it resolved. As
much and as easy as these things are to patch, i prefer to wait until
its in the main stream as i depend on the RPM installs for a lot of
boxen. Thats why i was interested in the 'script" to convert.

Just some thoughts...
