Looking through the SPF-Help RT reports, it looks like the roaming
user problem is actually roaming user problem is the most frequent,
but I haven't studied the reports closely enough to be sure.

The bulk of these are actually registrar/DNS provider/domain
host published
record on behalf of the domain owner without talking to them and
put -all at
the end. Mydomain.com's decision to do this has had a very big impact on
the number of complaints we get.

Yes, I guess I should have been clearer. I knew that this was a
problem, but I guess I'm trying to find out what actually is causing
these emails to fail.

Some additional information on this... Just for mydomain.com:

The oldest complaint that's tied to them is Tue, 19 Oct 2004. The RT was
started on Sat, 09 Oct 2004, so it didn't take long to get the first one.
So far, I estimate we've had a total of 617 non-spam submissions to the RT.
Of those, 36 were eventually tied to the mydomain.com decision to
publish -all SPF records without notifying their customers.

I don't know how big a registrar they are, but over 5% of all the
complaints, concerns, questions, compliments, and truly bizarre of topic
ideas were because of them. There were others, but they seem to be much
smaller in numbers. Here's the trend over time:

10/2004 - 2
11/2004 - 2
11/2004 - 1
12/2004 - 3
1/2005 - 3
2/2005 - 2
3/2005 - 3
4/2005 - 2
5/2005 - 3
6/2005 - 4
7/2005 - 10
8/2005 - 1 so far.

I'm hopeful that the spike last month is indicative of an overall up trend
in SPF checking.

In the mydomain.com case, the only server in the record they published
appears to be for their webmail. Here's their support article on it:
