Should we switch domain names now? (I think so)
Should we send out an announcement? (I think not, it is *very* old
news.)
Ok, so far I've seen four people who have said yes to switching the
domain name. I've seen four people say that there should be an
announcement and two people who said no.
For the sake of the discussion, let me object to both the switching
and the announcement. :)
So when, if ever, should we switch domain names? We went through a
lot of work to decide on the domain name and get it (and the closely
related domain names) organized.
I voted against openspf.org names (as I believe it infringes OpenBSD
Open* brands), in favour of SPF-Classic.org names. I think that only
the switch to SPF-Classic.org domain makes sense for the current
web-site, people using SPF-Classic [that are not on the mailing list]
would be surprised to suddenly find it on openspf.org, a name they've
never heard before.
And just because the community have spent so much time on deciding on
the matter of the domain name, doesn't mean that the decision has to
be implemented at all costs.
P.S. Nothing stops you from ignoring my vote. :-)
Cheers,
Constantine.
