That will work, but really all you need (and you will need this for other
tags, like <br/> which needs to be just <br>), is
<xsl:output method="html"/>
If you want html then that is all you need, but the original (perfectly
reasonable) request was to output valid xhtml, specifying the xhtml DTD.
<br/> only "needs to be "<br>" if you are generating html.
The specified intention here was to generate xhtml which meets the
"compatibility guidelines" in the XHTML 1.0 rec.
