My
conclusion is that gateways into enclaves are going to become an
important feature to have available. There's nothing
particularly hard about
anything such a gateway does,
except for one thing -- how to you configure
such a
beast? I don't see any problem with a gateway implementing "toss
these alternatives if they appear", but I see a big problem
with the
specification language you'd use to describe
such actions. Nathaniel's
MAILCAP format is inadequate
(he has expressly avoided making MAILCAP handle
this
case, as a matter of fact).
I'll second this. Mailcap is
aimed at user-configuration, not gateway-configuration, which is a whole
different kettle of fish. After nearly a year of beating on the mailcap
notion, I feel quite strongly that these two things should be kept separate --
either is sufficiently complex in its own right!
