Regarding the length of the authentication string, is there an issue
with
header line length?
We can fold the headers onto extra lines - see section 2.2.3 of RFC
2822:

authentication string?
Even if there is whitespace within the authentication string, which I am
not expecting really - we can still work around it. We'll provide some
guidelines based on RFC 2822.
