I do believe they're already quite aware, and are working on the problem
(although silently and behind closed doors, for some reason, which
in my opinion is not a great way to proceed).

Not entirely closed, but you may have to be near the door to know it exists.

This is not to suggest that you can sit back and wait, but at least,
there is some traction as people are getting a better idea of what they
face, begin to learn how to deal with it, and array the right people.
