 [post-SMTP Return-Path]
there is no guarantee it will passed on to the next process.

NAK. The guarantee is in STD 10, STD 11, 2821, 2822, and 3834.
It's only stripped in scenarios behind mail2fido, mail2outlook,
mail2news, or similar gateways, but not by say POP3 or IMAP.

Sorry, but that is not true. Frank. If you based your MUA or GATE or whatever design to depend on a RETURN-PATH you will be sadly disappointed.

The SPECS only require its for BOUNCE purposes in POST SMTP delivery checks and no other reason. Once thats done, you don't need it - not for SMTP or POP3 or IMAP purposes.

It has only because important for the SPAM market. But the reality is that is not guarantee AFTER the delivery status has been determine and
the message saved, gated, fido, news or not.
