I suspect we're in agreement. The point is they should be separate. SPF
'classic' didn't get this right. Recipients should not infer anything
about HELO from the RFC2821 record, and vice versa.
The latter being the more important to me -- I'm happy enough to publish
records stating who may HELO with my hostnames but until/unless the
whole world (including those who haven't even discovered ESMTP yet)
upgrades to the Brave New World neither the RFC2821 nor RFC2822 records
are workable.
