Month based archiving using mhonarc?

Does anyone have scripts they would care to share that build
archives similar to the ones used on the mhonarc archive site?

Basically, I'm trying to avoid re-inventing a wheel to do
automated separation of the archives into months.

perl, sh, procmail recipes all gratefully accepted.
