* DNSBL lookups
Everything else on your list I can go with, but this is way outside
the scope of procmail and I would NOT want to see it included. There
are other tools out there that already integrate well with procmail
that can handle DNSBL.
Like which? Ok, a call to host and evaluating its return code isn't too
bad, but reversing the IP octets in procmail is a PITA which I plain
refuse thinking about. I prefer not to waste time on substandard tools,
having to hunt for an INCLUDERC for this because such basic
functionality isn't shipped with procmail is bad enough. Now with decent
replacement regexes things would be looking up. In any case, the C code
for this would be minimal so I don't quite understand your resistance.
And that's ignoring the fact that DNSBL
should be handled at the SMTP transaction phase and NOT at the LDA
phase...
Never mind that I use fetchmail, or don't have root access to my MTA, or
rather not touch the MTA, or ... no doubt other reasons.
