We could do the first draft as a full set of phases with dates
(changeable depending on when the draft is accepted) where specific
milestones must be met.
I'd rather not implement it twice. And how would the change work? Are
we supposed to use the interim solution, then go through a period of
using both, then kill off the old ones? That seems overly
complex. Anyone care to bet on how many people will keep using the
interim stuff long after it's depreciated?
And the arguments against _spf, hijacking an RR type, or SRV records
don't seem very compelling. For spf to be useful, it needs to gain
enough adoption that smaller dns sites are willing to allow this sort
of record. They allow MX records...
