would you care to describe to me why spf is at all necessary if spam
traps are this efficient? After all, blacklists have existed for quite a
while, and still, ever so many spams are circulated. If spam mails would
originate from spf-conforming "spam domains" run by the bad guys, what
advantage would spf buy in spam avoidance?
Because a spammer can go out and break into 1,000 computers without a
problem (IIRC, there are millions of compromised computers on the Internet
right now). That is cheap.
But to register 1,000 domains would cost somewhere around US$10,000. That
is a *huge* cost for a spammer, compared to other costs.
