I would be happy to release a Mail::SRS::DBI subclass that performs the
rewrite to a 32 char HMAC plus 32 char DB key or something like that.

The standard SRS module should probably fall back to using this if the
address is too long.  That way you get the best of both worlds:
transparency when possible, but a valid return address always.

The DB key only needs to be generated once per sender, of course;
there's no need to generate a new key for every message.  (Though that
means you have to index the database both ways, so there's a tradeoff
there.)  There also needs to be an expiry mechanism so that the
database doesn't grow indefinitely.
