Re: AOL to ESPs: Comply with SPF, Or Else - Publicity

Speaking of getting the word out, perhaps some registrars would like to get involved at some point. There are already some registrars that check your nameservers to see if the results are correct (like SOA, TTL, etc). Asking you to have an SPF record, so that they can process whether abusive email really came from you or not, might not be a big stretch.

There might even be $$ to be made for registrars - maybe they can offer a whitelist "address verification service" which they verify your postal mail address or credit card billing address, and then remove you from the whitelist if you spam (and all the domains registered to your mailing address)

Also DNS service providers can provide this as a checkbox, instead of just "type your TXT record here" they could offer to put in a default or something.

Let's also not forget that mail receivers will probably put a green check-mark or lock icon or star or something next to your address if it was verified, and nothing if it doesn't, so customers will eventually ask you, why is your email coming across as "Unverified"?

If this movement takes on the momentum we want/need it to, within a year it will be hard to avoid hearing about it :)
