It might be a cool alternative to current mailing lists though.
This is at least the second time someone has mentioned mailing
lists and mailing list alternatives, with Usenet newsgroups
having been mentioned at least once.
Let me point out (in case it isn't obvious) that a large variety
of web-based bulletin board systems already serve as alternatives.
In my opinion, the concept is very successful and far superior
to conventional mailing lists. Whether the economic models of
the service sites that run them will be successful is another
story.
This is only relevant to this list to the extent that such
alternatives introduce questions about the role of mailing lists
as a major mode of email usage in the future.
