I don't think there is a consensus on what a 3rd party signature is.

I hear it used in ADSP context to mean any signature that is valid
but which is not an author domain signature.

That contradicts the usual meaning of "3rd party", so maybe it's not
the best term, but usage is fairly consistent, which is close to
being consensus.

Michael's usage of it above doesn't match with that (as 
valid, non author domain signatures are commonly
signatures by the owner/admin of the domain).
