exactly. namespace is a very large place - there's room for everyone.
There is nothing wrong with .AOL and .IBM and .MSN solving their DNS
registry problems by getting TLDs for themselves, as compared with
warping ICANN into a protection device for the Intellectual
Properties that use their trademarks.
but, AOL is missing lots of things so none of this is even slightly odd.
a nice perfect way of organizing namespace. you look sort of like vint.
a little plastic surgery and bingo ... the orsc can replace you with vint
at icann. thats one way of saving icann .. put you in charge - but it's
only going to happen covertly. maybe the cia would like to save the
reputation of the USG and covertly put you in charge as vint.
