This comes up all the time, on this and many other lists. There is no
good solution to the problem because many people who read and participate
are not subscribed to the list.
Personally, I think the "here's my question -- oh & please reply
personally because I'm not subscribed" questions are a bad idea. Subscribe
to the list, ask your question and then unsubscribe when you get your
answer!
Too big of a problem? Too bad! The spams are too big of a problem for the
people who *are* subscribed to the list.
