Good luck with that "taking it up with the Dovecot folks". When I was first
moving us from a Winblows mail server setup to Postfix/IMAP/SquirrelMail I
installed Dovecot as the IMAP/POP3 server on the test bed. It's been a year
now so I don't remember the specifics and all I can find in their mailing
list archives are references to quota support and case sensitivity issues I
was having -- but, there was something else that was not RFC compliant and
the response I got was "those are just suggestions and I don't feel like
changing the software to do it that way". Dovecot was an easier install but
I promptly dropped it and went with the firmly established Courier set of
programs.
