Ah - Meng the Lamb! =)
I guess what I want is to have known-good counsel structure a strategy to
ensure the free and open nature of this work. Ask a pro like Lawrence
Lessig* to ensure this is done well and good. *LL comes to mind first, I
don't want to lessen the abilities/achievements of the many others, such as
the EFF,FSF,Groklaw, etc. A Team would be the best - the more smart eye's
the fewer problems in our future. Would Groklaw host a conversation on this?
For heavens' sake - don't sign anything. </humor>
And No! the IETF is just a fig leaf, any rights you might leave on that
table will not be there in the morning.
Structuring the IP for this is going to be just as complicated as SES ever
was - I wish I was any good at this, I only know I'm not and that it is very
important.
Thx - Ed
Wilderness is where you think you might get lost.

Subject: [spf-discuss] what license do you want to see?
The question of patents and licensing has been one of the
many lightning rods surrounding the SPF/CallerID merger.
George Webb at Microsoft will meet with the MS attorneys
next week. He has asked for our input.
If you guys have specific patent-related language that you
want to see them use, please provide it in full, and I will
pass it on to him.
Suggestions of "oh, it should be RF" are easy to make, but
if you could provide several kilobytes of legalese, that
would be even better.
GPL compliance should be a goal of this language.
