My original intention was to convince Meng that it would be a good idea
to pick a small group of "ambassadors" and let them hear what his plans
were. That group could then reassure the rest of us that there was a
reasonable plan in place and the interests of the open source community
was being looked after properly. This is still a reasonable scenario
and not overly burdensome.
That won't work in an otherwise open community, because one of those
ambassadors would soon disagree with some important aspect of Meng's plans
and report this (of course without the *relevant* details) to the
community and thus again provoke confusion and flamewars. And unless such
a disagreeing ambassador could be thrown out of the "board" (by whomever)
(and consider the repercussions of that!), the situation wouldn't change.
