I think global phone opt-out lists are easier because people want
their phone for personal stuff and not business. So they are happy to
nuke all companies. But that's not as true for email.
It's not really true for phone either. A lot of people would like to be
called if the company can't ship their overnight order on time, for
example. One of the problems with MacWarehouse is that they don't allow
you to say "use this information to contact me about my order, but
don't use it to send me spam".
Personally, I don't want telemarketing calls from anyone--except Apple.
If Apple wants to call me up and ask me to take part in market
research, that's fine. (They did once.)
