Re: [Asrg] A New Plan for No Spam / DNSBLS

I tried to not attack your character by not attributing your words
to you. Regardless of your sterling character, your words are
exactly what the professional bulk mailers say when they've been
caught spamming.

Of course. They are trying to act innocent. But assuming that
everyone who claims to be innocent is in fact a spammer is a bit far
fetched.

So let's assume he's not a spammer. He's using the local equivalent
of hate speech to make his point. Someone needs to convey to him that
his choice of words is unfortunate and contrary to his interests.

It's nice that you've never had your email blocked. I can assure you
that I've not had the same wonderful experience.

Your situation is special, because you were very creative in your
choice of domain name. Before I had occassion to deal with somewhere.com,
on more than one occassion I seriously considered adding somewhere.com
to my blacklist because of its use in spam. When I consulted your
web pages, my suspicions that you were in league with them were not
answered. My suspicions never quite crossed the fuzzy threshold for
winning an entry in my lists.

My best current guess is that the other person's business involves
more marketing than mine, and so fewer of his correspondents care if
they miss his mail. More important, it appears that his "big name"
ISP is PacBell. For those who've been following the spam wars, that
would be enough said, except that it seems he is using PacBell's ADSL
service. I don't agree with blocking IP addresses merely because they
are somewhat dynamic, but many people report that blocking swamps of
open proxies is a very effective spam filter. He should seek a refund
of whatever he paid for the advice to rely on PacBell's ADLS service
for unlikely to be blocked outgoing email. Somehow I suspect he paid
no more than that advice was worth.
