There are still good reasons to have a prefix. A method like MARID (whatever it will be) is not limited to e-mail only. It can be used for other services (e.g. chat) as well to verify identity descriptors derived from domain names.

If there ever will be another use of MARID, collision should be avoided (which could be resolved by omitting the prefix for e-mail and using a prefix for any other service, but this is not
a good design).


I would add to that that others in the IETF may use MARID as a precendent to argue for the use of TXT record. This may quickly increase the possible number of them. Therefore, I am for the prefix as well.
