We can also have an extra XML-based data format for SPF records. This
adds some extra work to the implementations, but since only very few
people care about how the code looks, it's not a big problem.
It also makes it neccesary to have two types of implementations: those
that parse xml records and those that don't. There have been enough
objections against xml based on the extra burden it puts on the
accepting mail server, hence the distinction. Once there is this
distinction, why not call the one spf, the other CID? Aren't we back on
square one then?
