I urge anyone who has permission to post to the mxcomp list to speak up
and protest against this license, since this license is imo a danger to
those of us running free, open software.

Everybody has permission to post there, you just need to subscribe to the
ietf-mxcomp list.

While it is true that anyone can subscribe and post to the IETF MARID
list (ietf-mxcomp), there are many that take a dim view of people who
just post on one subject without having participated in the working
group. Since decisions are made by the "rough consensus of the
working group", people who have not worked on the proposals may well
be viewed as not being part of the working group by the co-chairs.

If you want your voice to be heard, I highly recommend
reading/reviewing a large portion of the archives. You should also be
somewhat knowledgeable about the workings of the IETF. There are some
good RFCs/FAQs on the IETF website. The "tao of the IETF" (or some
name close to that) is a very good read.

I'm not trying to discourage people from posting their concerns to the
MARID list, far from it, I am trying to help keep your views from
being dismissed.
