There is no legit reason AFAICT for not relaying through your ISP.

I can think of several: Your ESP is not your ISP, and you wish to use
your
ESP's SMTP servers for performance/security/other reasons.

You are roaming and your ISP is restrictive or you have performance or
privacy
concerns with it's service.

When your ISP's SMTP smarthost plain sucks - times out, takes an
unacceptable
time to deliver messages or is just plain unreliable, you
might want to
use an
alternative service. Changing ISP may not always be easy,
changing ESP -
in theory - should be more so.

All true, which is why ESP's don't block connections from dynamic IP's (because
they are selling the
email service to "anyone"). But they usually require their clients to use SMTP
AUTH (no surprise
there, they need *something* else would be an open relay)

Whether you are relaying through your ISP, or your ESP, either way your email
is relayed through a
dedicated, properly configured SMTP server, hence the destination sees the
email coming from a legit
mail server, not from a dynamic/dialup port.

Problem solved, thanks for pointing out that there is no need to send email
from a dynamic ip
directly to a target mail server even if you cannot change ISP (use ESP). :)
