entries for which hosts ???

Come on, there is no "SPF community". There are individuals on that
mailing list, they chat, write code, write specs, etc but they are not
a community, with a common goal and a commonly-agreed view of the
world.

Well - I am surprised and very disappointed in your attitude, Stephane, if
you don't feel that you are part of the spf community when you are such a
prominent member of this mailing list.

Meng can do what he wants, Mark too and you and me too.

That's always a given. The point is whether what these people do/say
reflects only their own view or the views of the spf community. In Meng's
case the latter seems to be to the fore, whereas in your case probably the
former would be more appropriate.

Of course, reporters will sometimes present Meng as "the inventor of
SPF" (not false) and sometimes as "SPF leader" (clearly false) but you
cannot prevent the reporters for being ignorant :-)

Meng and Mark are the co-authors of SPF and are due credit for that at all
appropriate times.

The fact that Meng's representation as "SPF Leader" is "clearly false",
applies only to those who are privy to the discussions on these mail-lists
and elsewhere within the spf community. To the outside world the impression
that he *is* the SPF Leader appears to be prevalent, and is not corrected by
Meng at all AFAIK.

This is why I suggest we come up with what the spf-community want to portray
as their collective view of spf now and in the future, and to make sure that
the message is transmitted to the publicity machine effectively.

Unless, of course, you are totally happy with Microsofts continued claims
that the whole of the spf work is actually just a small part of Sender-ID

So, I suggest to leave Meng alone and to concentrate on tasks we can
do: getting the RFC out (reading the draft, checking it, lobbying at
IETF 61, etc), improving the code, developing a test suite,
evangelizing SPF (in French:
http://www.generic-nic.net/formation/lmap/), registering in the new
SPF help system to help newbies
(http://archives.listbox.com/spf-discuss(_at_)v2(_dot_)listbox(_dot_)com/200410/0393.html),
etc.

I do what I can to assist the spf effort, but I will not "leave Meng alone".
Meng is *not* god and is just a bloke like the rest of us. I asked Meng for
information on the situation regarding Microsofts involvement, but there is
no response. I will continue to press for an answer until an up-to-date
statement is made.
