Re: There is no cabal (was: When did we lose control?)

I, for one, don't blame folks for not coming forward on this list, nor for not coming forward on the benighted MARID list, especially toward the end. Simply put, why would the average person wish to state a position or endorse a certain proposal if they knew with certainty they would be mercilessly hounded and attacked as Microsoft's running dogs? Life is too short and there's too much work to set one's self up for such abuse. Offline, sideline, and private communications are often more productive in the melee that is sender authentication.

Frankly, the level of discourse from some participants discourages all but the hardiest souls.

There is no cabal, and what proceeds on this list is a fair approximation of the real world. To those folks who can't seem to understand our operating environment, I suggest: Get over yourselves, and get on with the work of producing implementations, documents, etc. Ad hominem attacks, knee-jerk responses, and attitudes do little to further the ostensible goals of SPF-DISCUSS and SPF's adoption by the world.

I, for one, am confident that Meng is working in good faith, and that he is representing non-list communications accurately. I am similarly confident that other folks on the list are also working in good faith and representing their communities accurately. I will continue in those confidences until it is demonstrated my trust is misplaced. I suggest this is a good place from which to start.
