No, I know it doesn't "restrip" it out - I've seen plenty of messages with From escaped, and I know that the MTA configuration can do that, as well as formail. My local MUA may have indented text when I posted attempting to demonstrate it, but that doesn't mean that the escaping of "From " isn't a well known issue.

I also have a copy of the unaltered mailbox on my server, and having reviewed it when it was pointed out that my first reply had leading spaces, I see that it reflects as such there as well.

If your mail had escapes on the two _indented_ lines, that's bad.
