A Micro$oft Shop, Eh?
If you can't compile your favorite mailer yourself, it is less than $50
a year to subscribe to a commercial update service for a commerical
Linux distibution. It is free for volunteer maintained distributions
like Debian.
If configuring sendmail gives you a headache (as it would most non-geeks), then
use one of the simpler mailers like Postfix. I use sendmail because
it is very flexible and easy to compile (i.e. apply any security patches).
