But they can no longer masquerade as the domain names of legitimate
corporations, like aol.com, hotmail.com, etc. :) Provided they all get
onboard, of course, publishing -all records.

Don't forget that hotmail.com is from MS.
Maybe google can start their mail service just at the right moment
supporting the right kinds of technology....
