Change the sense of "ensuring" to "encouraging", and I agree. But as worded,
that sounds a lot like making it harder for someone to focus on the work they
are interested in. I think that's more likely to make people stop coming than
making them generalize their work.
Yes, my phrasing was careless. But we really do need to encourage
cross-currents. For me personally, that's one of the main benefits
of the IETF format and it would be sad to be too inward looking.
